Mondays are usually quiet, and this one mostly is. No Premier League, no European games, and Serie A doesn't start its midweek round until Tuesday. But two games in JOPP's competitions are worth your evening: PSG v Lyon, which got moved from Sunday, and Sevilla v Osasuna in LaLiga.
A short card has one upside. Bookmakers have fewer games to price, but so do you, which means you can actually read the team news properly. As usual there are no odds or picks here, just the players I'd open first and the things I'd check. If you missed the weekend, Sunday's notes are in player props for Sunday 25 October.
01Tonight's games#
All times are Amsterdam time (CET). UK time is one hour earlier.
| Kick-off | League | Match |
|---|---|---|
| 20:30 | Ligue 1 | Paris Saint-Germain v Lyon |
| 21:00 | LaLiga | Sevilla v Osasuna |
Sources: Olympique Lyonnais' official site and Ouest-France for PSG v Lyon, and the LaLiga match pages on AS and El País for Sevilla v Osasuna.
There's also Galatasaray v Fenerbahçe in the Süper Lig at 19:30 and Santa Clara v Benfica in Portugal at 19:45, according to Calciomagazine's daily schedule. Both are big games, but neither league is on JOPP, so I'm leaving them out.
021. Désiré Doué, PSG v Lyon (20:30)#
Market to check: shots on target, then anytime goalscorer
PSG's injury list is long. Ouest-France lists Marquinhos, Nuno Mendes, Ousmane Dembélé and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as out, and Sports Mole says Kvaratskhelia's torn ACL is expected to end his season. That's two of the regular front three gone.
Ouest-France names four players for the three attacking spots: Maghnes Akliouche, Doué, Ferran Torres and Mika Godts, with Godts behind the others because he's started only once in Ligue 1 this season. Sports Mole's line-up also has Doué starting, and it notes he's scored in each of his last three competitive games, including against Barcelona in midweek.
With Dembélé and Kvaratskhelia out, more of PSG's attacking play should go through Doué. That's the case for his shot lines. The risk is the selection. It's four players for three spots, and Ouest-France's own line-up graphic doesn't match its text, so wait for the team sheet and check how long he's likely to stay on.
032. Ante Budimir, Sevilla v Osasuna (21:00)#
Market to check: anytime goalscorer
Osasuna brought Jagoba Arrasate back earlier this month, and he won his first game 2-0 against Racing Santander. Budimir scored the opener from the penalty spot, and Sports Mole says he's now trying to score in a fourth league game in a row. He's also scored on his last two LaLiga visits to the Sánchez-Pizjuán.
Every preview I checked has him up front. Sports Mole, Mundo Deportivo and the line-up pages on AS and El País all have the same Osasuna XI, and Mundo Deportivo expects Arrasate to keep the side that beat Racing.
The penalty matters too. If he's still on them, that helps his goalscorer price. The opponent isn't a fortress either: Sports Mole points out that Sevilla have conceded three goals in each of their last three league games. What I'd watch is support. Oroz and Del Castillo are injured, so a lot depends on Rubén García and Dubasin getting balls into him.
043. Robbie Ure, Sevilla v Osasuna (21:00)#
Market to check: shots
This is about the opponent. Sports Mole says Osasuna have conceded at least four goals in each of their last three away games and lost all three. Mundo Deportivo has them on 15 goals conceded in four away games. A defence like that tends to give up a lot of shots.
Ure is the lone striker in every Sevilla line-up I found: Sports Mole, Mundo Deportivo, AS and El País. Isaac Romero is back from a ban, but Sports Mole expects him on the bench. Mundo Deportivo says Lucas Stassin is available again but may not be fit for 45 minutes yet.
The risk is rotation. García Plaza has said he'll make changes because Sevilla play four games in twelve days. The previews don't agree on the attacking midfield either, with Ejuke, Vargas and Kochorashvili all named somewhere. I'd start with plain shots rather than shots on target, because volume is the whole case here. If the shots rules are new to you, read player shots bets explained.
05Lyon's front line is a guess#
I'd stay away from Lyon's attacking props until the team sheet is out. Ouest-France lists six absentees, including Loïs Openda, Pavel Sulc and the suspended Keito Nakamura. At his press conference Fonseca said Rémy Himbert and Alejandro Gomes Rodriguez are his only real number nines. Ouest-France thinks it's Himbert or Khalis Merah as a false nine. Whoever plays there, his shot lines could be priced on a guess before 19:30.
06Your checklist for tonight#
- Team sheets come first. Expect them around 19:30 for PSG v Lyon and 20:00 for Sevilla v Osasuna. That's when fair odds move the most. See how line-ups and penalties move prices.
- Think about minutes. PSG and Lyon both played in Europe last week, and Sevilla are rotating. A player taken off after an hour loses a lot of his chances.
- Look at shots conceded, not just goals. Osasuna's away record is the headline. How many shots they allow, and from where, tells you whether that's real.
- Check who takes penalties. With Dembélé out, it's worth confirming PSG's taker before you trust any goalscorer price.
- Know the settlement rules. Non-starter rules vary between bookmakers. Read anytime goalscorer bets explained and shots on target betting.
- Compare with a fair odd. A price bigger than fair is positive EV. The maths is in what is expected value in betting.
